How many feet away from a No Parking sign can I park?
I am wondering in Ohio, how many feet away from a No Parking sign can I park. I am parking on a curb with a No Parking sign about 100 yards or more away and I am being harassed by the police. I have looked in the motorists digest and it does not give an actual number. Can you help? Thanks!

Can my neighbor put up a no parking sign on a public road?
I have always had a good relationship with my neighbors, until recently. I live in an apartment complex but I only have room for two vechiles, mine and my next door neighbor. Lately I have had my family and my boyfriend over, and my neighbor who lives down the street next to us, put up a NO PARKING sign on their tree next to the road. Can he do that? Can he have a vechile towed? He actually got up and yelled at my boyfriend for parking there. My boyfriend and I are reasonable people, we would have not parked there if he would have just talked to us about it, but now it's annoying, and he is becoming a nuisence. If you know for a fact that he can not do it..can you please include the source of your information found. I would really appreciate it thanks! Updated: Thanks for the advice, i did call the local police and they told me that he can put up whatever sign he wants on his property, but i do NOT have to abide by it. And he CAN NOT have my automobile towed unless it is on his property or blocking his cars. Just in case anyone else wanted to know ;)

He has no right. Anyone can park in front of his house. Let him get you towed once. You can then charge him and the towing company with stealing your car. That will get rid of him and the towing company. BTW: Will my "No Dogs" sign on my sidewalk be of any help to me?

If a no parking sign is faded to the point where it is completely white and illegible, can it be enforced?
I parked in a zone that was apparently a no-parking zone last night and my car got towed. I noticed that there was a rectangular sign hanging on the fence directly in front of where I parked my car but even with the headlights shining directly on it, it still appeared to be a blank white sign. Is it legal that my car was towed even though the sign that was posting this parking restriction was unreadable?

Excellent question! Here's where we find out who among us attended all the Creditors' Remedies lectures at law school. Well, yes, a photo of the illegible sign is good but quite apart from that it's worth checking whether a parking violation is sufficient at law for a municipality to seize an asset such as a car. Usually remedies are limited by the value of creditor's interest in the asset. Here, the municipality has NO interest in your car and NO right to seize it. This is not common knowledge b/c supposedly it's in the public interest to take a strong line against 'illegal' parking. But seizing property (towing) unless there is legislation that specifically provides for this in the circs described is verboten. In fact, in some jurisdictions, creditor/debtor legislation actually provides money damages to those whose property has been wrongfully seized in addition to an action in conversion (theft, really). Check it out. You might have some fun with this or maybe brighten an atty's day. Last time I checked the fee required by these towing contractors to liberate a vehicle so seized was quite considerable!

If someone put a no parking sign on the st in front of a school with no cvc (cal vehicle code) # is it valid?
They blocked off a 200 ft. section of road next to the sidewalk that I and others in my apartment used to park in. The sign just says no parking, nothing else. Do I have to obey this sign? Thanks,

I don't think they can really do anything unless the CVC is listed, especially on public streets. With that said I also remember that unless you had PC 602 on NO TRESPASSING signs on private property, the cops could not detain. Sounds like someone just bought these signs at the hardware store. Park where you want!
