Sign the says park at own risk in front of my house?
I have neighbors that insist on always parking in front of my house, because their driveway is full of race-cars and tires and other junk, which leaves them no room to use their own driveway. My kids like to play ball in our yard...but cars are parked in front of my yard...what happens if one of my kids footballs/baseballs hit the parked cars? Should I ask the town to put up a 'PARK AT YOUR OWN RISK' sign? I feel my kids have the right to play in their own yard...but if a parked car is there(and they park it there almost every single day like it's their personal parking space) am I liable if there is any damage to their parked car that is always in front of my house??? My kids are very careful, but with the neighbors car there all the time, accidents do happen. Thanks, any advise would be appreciated!!!! Ok, thanks for the advise.....I do appreciate it!! Um, Ok, I am so not jealous of my neighbors....can you say White Trash...lol....It just pisses me off that there are so many other options for this person to park their car, but insist on ALWAYS parking in front of my pretty house. I do not have a backyard, only a front and side yard.....I live on a dead end street and the traffic is minimal. One of my biggest problems is that when you turn onto my street if you are lets say a UPS truck, fire ruck...etc anything big, you have to make a K turn to turn onto my street when he parks his car there so they don't hit it,1, and 2, my boys DO play football, baseball, ride bikes etc...my concern is if this individual parks there daily and my boys accidentally bounces a ball off his truck, why should I be responsible.....no one and I mean no one parks their cars on our street(we all have driveways that are accommodating for all our vehicles)....only this guy and all their trashy guests park o on the street with big ugly oil leaking shit bombs. I want to put up a "park at your own risk" sign, so it will let this guy know that by parking here, your truck may be hit by a fly ball by mistake once in a while...it's a public street, i get it..and I don't own the street.....BUT.......when we moved here 15 years ago, everything was nice and people were considerate of others.....and everyone still is...except for these few people who btw are divorced, but hang with the new spouse, hang out when the one spouse is not there...some weird shit going on there..it's a strange gig over there...we(the neighbors) think they are all nuts.....I just wish his truck wouldn't be there when I woke in the morning and would not be there when I go to sleep at night....oh, but he does leave late at night and is there before first light in the A.M....parked in front of MY HOUSE....what a douche!! so my house looks like sanford and son.....I just hate inconsiderate people....that's the real problem

You can post as many signs as you want, but that doesn't mean that you're not liable if one of your kids damages the neighbor's car. If the street offers public parking, your neighbors can park there as often as they want. And if one of the kids damages the car, you are going to have to pay.

Can you fight a hotel's park at your own risk policy and win?
I travel quite a bit to Houston and have had my vehicle broken into twice in the last 4 months. The first time I was within 10' of the door. When I went to the front desk, the first thing out of the manager's mouth was "We're not responsible, we've got signs posted stating its park at your own risk,...now how may I help you?" This last time was pretty much the same way, although this one didn't have any signs posted; the "park at your own risk" statement is in fine print at the bottom of the "sign in" sheet. I got hit for quite a bit this time, Houston PD has been no help even when I tracked the guys down myself, sat outside their house and waited for the cops to show up. I've called the hotel group and they were less than helpful also. Aside from filing an insurance claim, is there any way I can hold the hotel responsible?

The "park at your own risk" signs don't absolve the parking lot owner of all responsibility. Legally their disclaimer doesn't get them off the hook. As a paying customer you have the right to expect a certain amount of security when using their lot. Failure to provide such security is called negligence and is actionable. Signs or no signs one would expect video surveillance (to help catch the perpetrators) and some actual supervision. If your parking facility is negligent by not providing sufficient security then you could sue successfully to recoup your losses.

My car was broken into at a park. Are they responsible?
I was at a baseball tournament and in the middle of the day someone busted my window and took multiple things out of my car. There are no security cameras or signs posted anywhere saying to park at your own risk. I was told since there were no signs that theyre insurance company would have to pay for the damages and anything that was stolen that is replaceable. Is that true?

not true you park on the street at your own risk

Was the information and advice given to me right?
I parked my car at a "pay to park" parking lot owned by a restaurant. There was a parking attendant collecting the fees who was supposed to be watching the cars as well. After an hour when I came back to my car, i found out that my car was hit on the rear side which damaged the door. I asked the parking attendant if he saw who hit my car and he said he didn't. I called the cops for a police report and i asked them if i can make the restaurant responsible for the damage since its their "pay to park" business and my car was supposed to be "safe"...the police said that no,its a park at your own risk thing and they also said that i cant make the parking attendant responsible either ...i told the cops that there was no sign saying park at your own risk, the only sign was the $5.00 parking fee which i paid to the attendant..., please advice!
